Normani has been confirmed as a performing artist at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. The rising entertainer is slated to deliver the first televised performance of “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B.

A campaign of sorts for Normani to perform started back in August after Cardi B tweeted that she hoped the Atlanta native and her other recent collaborator Lizzo were scheduled for the annual ceremony. Normani responded, “They haven’t booked me yet.”

An outpouring of fans and other online users flooded the network’s mentions and comment sections on their various social handles supporting Normani hitting the stage this year.

Now, following the network’s announcement fulfilling her wish to perform, Normani wrote, “I don’t know where to start with you guys. You’re my heart and soul and have always stuck by me through all the fucking adversities. First shall be the last and the last shall be the first.”

Normani previously performed at the VMAs back in 2019, debuting the now platinum “Motivation.”

Chlöe, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, Lorde, Shawn Mendes, and more are slated to perform at the 2021 ceremony, happening Sunday (Sept. 12) at 8 p.m. EST.
