Between his collaborative tape with Hitmaka and his last solo album Eric B For President: Term 3, Eric Bellinger carved out time to record his newest album New Light.
Expressed as his most satisfying release to date, this sonically infectious collection of commercial flair features previously shared tracks “Go Get It” and “Shine on the World.”
The liner notes of New Light details Bellinger’s ambition to work with a range of producers, including Rodney Jerkins, OG Parker, Ayo & Keyz, and many others.
The disparate singer-songwriter measures his talent with the likes of The Game and Dom Kennedy, who both help him produce an anthem (“Truly Yours”) for the girls out in Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
On “Euphoric,” Bellinger duets with Brandy, who imbues the sweet-talk song with her ghostly vocal smarts. He makes “Goin’ Dutch” more pleasurable than distasteful, while the bounce-inspired “Girls Like You” agrees that women like them can get the world and then some from any desired mate.
Other appearances include Kierra Sheard-Kelly and Sevyn Streeter.
