After taking fans to a Higher Place in 2020, Skip Marley ushers in a new era with his feel-good single “Vibe” featuring Popcaan.

“She wanna catch a vibe / She wanna spend some time Into the light,” Marley sings over the melodic tune. Popcaan comes in on the second verse, singing, “She wan’ hold a vibe, so we catch a big bonfire.”

In a statement to Rated R&B, Marley explained how the catchy track came to life. “Me and the producer Rykeyz started to build the rhythm in an Afro kind of direction, and then Popcaan really catch the energy of the song,” he said.

He noted in a press release, “Vibe is a feeling, a whole spirit and energy. A movement that brings light and life. It’s about being alive!”

“Vibe” is Marley’s first proper single of 2021. In September, he reissued Higher Place as a deluxe edition, which included a remix of his certified gold hit “Slow Down.”

On October 21, Marley will perform at H.E.R.’s headlining Lights On Festival in Brooklyn. SWV, Ari Lennox, 6LACK, Lucky Daye and Joyce Wrice will also take the stage that night.
