After releasing a pair of promising singles, CAMP, formerly known as Aaron Camper, has issued his first project under his new moniker. Therapy is the singer-songwriter’s first release since 2018’s Hi-Def.
The five-track EP, co-executive produced by Anikan & Vader and Kenneth “NSFR” Wright, contains the two previous singles, “Heavy” and “Issues,” which was produced by the former duo. CAMP wrote all songs himself without songwriting assistance.
Speaking on the title of the project, CAMP says exclusively to Rated R&B, “Making music has always been a creative constant as part of my own self-therapy and awareness, so Therapy just felt fitting for this EP.”
Therapy is more than a title for CAMP, it’s an action plan. “While I love making music and the process, I’m not sure it’s enough considering times, tons of loss on all levels and real therapy is the next assist in personal breakthrough outside of music, which I look forward to.”
When asked about what he hopes listeners will take away from Therapy, CAMP tells Rated R&B, “Discovered a lot about myself writing and being in direct cohesion creatively with music. It’s a certain safe, vulnerable space that, as a man, you have very little room to feel, be emotional, or react. We’re all feeling deeply right now as people, so being bi-vocal, having sensitivity and boundary, range and depth within my music is the least I can do to contribute and not add to the noise.”
