Jon Batiste Is the Most-Nominated Artist at 2022 Grammy Awards

Jon Batiste’s name was heard many times during the reveal of the 2022 Grammy Awards nominations.

The accomplished musician earned 11 nominations this year, including two nods in the general field, Album of the Year (We Are) and Record of the Year (“Freedom”). He also picked up nominations across various genre-specific categories, including R&B, jazz, and classical, to name a few.

Batiste is the most-nominated artist this year. H.E.R., Doja Cat and Justin Bieber trail slightly behind with eight nominations each.

The Louisiana native went to Instagram to express his gratitude. He wrote, “WOW!! Thank you God!! 🙏🏾🤍 I love EVERYBODY! , so grateful to my collaborators and to my ancestors 😭😭😭.”

Batiste has been making major moves this year. In March, he released his latest album, We Are. The following month, he made history at the 93rd Academy Awards, becoming the third Black person to win Original Score (Soul). In July, he released a project called Live at Electric Lady exclusively on Spotify. In September, he shared Jazz Selections: Music From and Inspired by Soul. In October, he released a deluxe edition of We Are, which included six additional tracks.

Record Of The Year – “Freedom” Jon Batiste

Album Of The Year – We Are Jon Batiste

Best Classical Instrumental Solo – BATISTE: MOVEMENT 11′ – Jon Batiste, composer (Jon Batiste)

Best Music Video – ‘Freedom’ Jon Batiste
