Mary J. Blige has collaborated with Snoop Dogg and DJ Cassidy for the hip-hop icon’s brand new project Snoop Dogg Presents Algorithm, out now. The new track, “Diamond Life,” was produced by Oscar and Grammy-winning musician D’Mile and hip-hop heavyweight Cassidy.
Here, Blige’s relaxed tone floats flawlessly underneath a funky bassline and layered instrumentation. She finally sees herself as the mighty queen she was crowned decades ago, citing that she, along with prominent Black figures Angela Bassett and Halle Berry, are shining examples of “women who push through their failures.”
Before “Diamond Life,” Blige teased that three new songs of her own are on target to drop this month. Each new track has a supporting video and is part of the rollout for her forthcoming untitled album, which is slated to release in January 2022.
Blige and Dogg will meet up again in February 2022 when they co-headline the Pepsi Halftime Show at Super Bowl LVI. Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem are also on the marquee for the set.
Blige, who recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of “Thick of It,” returns to Starz as Monet Tejada in season two of Power Book II: Ghost this Sunday, November 21.
