Maxwell is back. The R&B legend has released “Off,” the lead single from his highly anticipated album, blacksummers’NIGHT, due in spring 2022.
“Off” is a slow-burning track that beautifully captures the essence of an intense lovemaking session. In this instance, Maxwell aims to put his all into pleasing his woman until she reaches a climax.
“Hope you receive and keep shooting all your shots / Don’t you miss them, no / Keep giving all you got / Never ever let this go / And if I hit that spot / We’re on a mission to go off,” he delicately sings on the seductive tune.
Maxwell’s upcoming album, blacksummers’NIGHT will release on his new label Musze, in partnership BMG. It will mark the third and final installment of his Black Summers’ Night trilogy, which kicked off in 2009. NIGHT will follow 2016’s SUMMERS’, which included the single “Lake By the Ocean.”
Later this month, Maxwell will be honored with the Legend Award at the 2021 Soul Train Awards. “It’s an honor to be presented with the Legend award by a community that’s been growing with me throughout my career. I’m so grateful to be sharing this moment with everyone and returning to the Apollo for an evening of excellence,” he shared in a statement.
The Soul Train Awards will air on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. EST on BET.
