PJ Morton is back on stage and in front of the camera. A year away from daytime and late-night show tapings, the Grammy-winning musician stuns Tamron Hall Show audiences with a live performance of “Please Don’t Walk Away.”
Alongside a guitarist, Morton, seated at the piano on a set colored in neon purple light, performs the song with passionate vocals as Tamron Hall and the crowd looks on.
“Please Don’t Walk Away” is Morton’s first solo single since Gospel According to PJ, winning Best Gospel Album at the 2020 Grammys.
In June, he collaborated with Kenyon Dixon for the song “Escape.” He joined forces with Dixon before that on “Bring It on Home to Me,” a salute to Sam Cooke, featuring Charlie Bereal and BJ the Chicago Kid.
Now that he’s finished performing alongside Robert Glasper at New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club, Morton is headed to the Kennedy Center on November 7, to perform and help celebrate their 50th anniversary.
