Hot on the heels of his Late Night with Stephen Colbert visit, Maxwell showered ABC’s Good Morning America audience with a remote performance of his new single, “Off.”
Sporting fresh cornrows and a white suit with mirrored accents, the legendary singer and his band stage themselves in a dim light studio to unpack a mature, sensuous sound that is textbook Maxwell.
A lauded performance of this caliber is why those who haven’t purchased tickets for his upcoming NIGHT 2022 Tour will miss out. The North American trek, which invites Joe and Anthony Hamilton as special guests, kicks off on March 2 in Dallas, Texas.
The tour will support Maxwell’s blacksummers’NIGHT, the final album of a trilogy he started in 2009. An official release date has yet to be announced for the LP.
No singles other than “Off” have been released from blacksummers’NIGHT. The steamy track broke through the top 10 at R&B radio and on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart. It marks his 15th top ten hit on the latter chart.
Maxwell recently landed another limited-edition sunglasses collection with STATE Optical Co.
The three new luxury styles, which officially launch on March 1, will benefit the Vision Council’s Open Your Eyes Scholarship (O-YES), helping high school seniors with different resources that desire to take a career path as an optician.
