Raveena wonders if the man she’s currently seeing can keep a “Secret” in her latest song featuring Vince Staples.
This uptempo, groovy record finds Raveena singing about using her bewitching charm on a man she knows will never have her.
“Boy, can you keep a secret? / I know I’m the one you can’t have / I know that I am your weakness / If you wanna play, I’ll call you back,” she sings. “If you want the star treatment / You could find another girl for that / I’m a flirt, it’s not a secret / Wait a sec’, I’ll hit you right back.”
Staples rips this track with the sickening flow and wordplay that only he is known for.
Discussing “Secret” in a statement, Raveena shared that it’s “a song about love that traverses through different dimensions. People on Earth are starting to have sensual dreams ignited in them by a space princess – someone they feel like their body knows, but whom they also do not know and cannot reach in this dimension.”
She continued, “What if your lover was enticing you from space and you couldn’t reach them in this realm? What if a spirit from an outer dimension ignited your sacral chakra? This is what ‘Secret’ explores.”
Raveena brought this meaning to life in the self-directed accompanying visual. Watch the video above.
“Secret” arrived in conjunction with the announcement of Raveena’s upcoming sophomore album Asha’s Awakening, set for release on Feb. 11 via Warner Records. The song follows January’s “Rush.”
Asha’s Awakening follows her 2020 EP Moonstone and her first full-length album, Lucid, from 2019.
Raveena is scheduled to support the new album with a performance at Coachella on April 15 and 22.
