Ahead of their next album Starfruit, Moonchild has released their new track “Love I Need” featuring Rapsody.
An adjustment from me time and dwelling without love, “Love I Need,” is about reacting to a partner who is now taking care of disregarded feelings in a way that feels right but unfamiliar.
Moonchild’s instrumentalist Andris Mattson spoke about Rapsody’s contribution to the track, noting that the Grammy-nominated rapper “took the song to another level.”
Mattson added, “My favorite moment happens halfway through her incredible verse, where the band breaks on beat one and come back in with some hits that match her line.”
So far, Moonchild has released four tracks in anticipation for Starfruit, including “Tell Him” featuring Lalah Hathaway and “You Got One” featuring Alex Isley.
Featuring additional appearances from Tank and the Bangas, Ill Camille, Mumu Fresh, Chantae Cann, and Josh Johnson, Starfruit, out Feb. 11, is Moonchild’s follow-up to 2019’s Little Ghost.
On March 29, Moonchild will launch their world tour in Red Bank, New Jersey, making their rounds in other major U.S. cities in April and May. In September, they will kick off the European leg of their tour. Tickets are available here.
