Garren is back with another new song from his forthcoming album, Is This What You Mean? The mid-tempo single, “What Would It Take,” was produced by Brody Brown, who had a grip on the charts last year with Silk Sonic.
Brown cooks up a production hampered with a smooth guitar where Garren sings regretfully about doing the woman he’s in love with wrong. The heartfelt lyrics are forgiveness-focused, complementing the sweeping emotion in his melodic tone.
Garren debuted an accompanying video for “What Would it Take” that features him trying to get through to his wronged love interest. Kevin C. Wilson directed the video.
To support his forthcoming album and his latest track, Garren has utilized Corite, a fan-funding platform, to finance his current rollout.
“What Would It Take” is Garren’s first track released this year. It follows his previous single, “Hot Tub Machine,” shared in December 2021. He responded with its music video at the beginning of the year.
Both tracks will appear on Garren’s follow-up to his debut album, the new (normal). That LP featured the songs “Energy” and “It’s Complicated.”
Last year, Garren released a string of singles and the Lost Files: Songs to Be Sampled EP.
He also appeared on VanJess’ Homegrown EP alongside Jimi Tents on the song “Curious.”
