Marzz released their debut EP, Love Letterz, nearly a year ago on Keep Cool/RCA Records. Now, they are back with Love Letterz (Deluxe), which includes seven additional tracks. The extended project leans more into the Louisville, Kentucky, native recounting stories of their life.
“Love Letterz is more like other people’s perspectives. Love Letterz (Deluxe) is more about how I feel about my personal experiences,” Marzz tells Rated R&B over a video call. “It’s me digging in my mind and dissecting what I feel. Right now, I’m focusing on determining what boundaries I want set.”
Boundaries aren’t the only thing Marzz is focused on at the moment. On April 22, Marzz will join Oscar and Grammy winner H.E.R. on the second leg of her Back of My Mind Tour. In between dates, Marzz will headline their Love Letterz Tour starting April 22 in Dallas, Texas.
Marzz admits they have mixed emotions, as it’s their first time touring. “I’m super nervous but super excited. It’s my first tour, so I’m ready to have fun and enjoy the experience. I want to give [fans] a piece of me more and have a deeper connection with me. I want to put on a show but also give healing to people. I want to leave people touched and hope they get some type of uplifting energy.”
Fans can expect Marzz to perform material from their freshly released deluxe project, which is out now. In Rated R&B’s interview with Marzz, the talented singer/songwriter breaks down every new song on Love Letterz (Deluxe), including their reimagination of SWV’s classic “Rain.”

“KMS”
It’s about being exhausted and not knowing how to express that I’ve had enough. It’s like, I want to keep on and try to work things out, but it’s not working. You gotta understand that this is what it is and keep it going.
“FYM”
“FYM” is me on my gangsta stuff (laughs). I’m a Sagittarius, so when I’m done with something, I’m done with it. I’m not looking for an explanation. I don’t care. It is what it is. We done. It’s time to get a bag. I’m not about to sit there and like give you an explanation, really. It’s like, “F*ck you mean?” It’s whatever. We are moving on.
“Real Recognize Real”
It’s about understanding that it’s okay to be who I want to be. What you see is what you get. It’s okay for me to be confident in who I am and speak proudly about it. It’s motivation to keep going and not worry about trying to fit in. There’s always somebody for you. You’re never alone.
“3rd Eye View”
This is one of my mental songs, no cap. I was smoking a blunt that day when I was writing that. I was just in my head. I’m into astrology and stuff, so I was just tapping in with myself. This is Marzz’s mind state — not even Laria [my government name]. This is what Marzz is thinking. I put myself in her headspace and really just be like, “I’m one crazy person — I think” (laughs). Love makes you do crazy things. With this song, it’s more about having a mentor right now and losing self-control. I named it “3rd Eye View” because if you’re into astrology, then you know that third eye view is being in tune with yourself and understanding yourself. It’s a song where you could take it wherever, but know that it’s in that type of mindset.
“Stargaze”
I’m not going to lie, “Stargaze” does something to me. When I hear the instrument, my ears be tingling so bad. I don’t know what it is. I connect with my inner self. I’m into feeling different energies, and I can feel frequencies and stuff. “Stargaze” is when you’re in a love trance and there’s no way of escaping.
“Feelin’ Me”
It’s more so I’m spitting game. Like, “Girl, I’m trying to let you know that [I’m] into you and I’m feeling you. I’m feeling you out loud.” It’s about connecting and letting her know I’m here for her mentally. She ain’t gotta worry about nothing. I’ll give you the reinsurance you need. Just let me know if you are feeling me so we can vibe out.

“Rain Freestyle”
That was something I posted on TikTok, and it ended up blowing up. People were asking me to do a full version. I was like, “Hell yeah! Maybe I can do a remix to pay homage.” I want to give a huge shout-out to Ms. Lelee [Lyons]. She reached out to me when I had released it and she was telling me that she loves me. It’s cool to have her as a person that I can go to for advice. She’s down to earth. The advice she gave me was just to stay focused. She kept telling me it’s okay to be different.
For her to be as successful as she is and doing what she doing to be confident in who she is, you know what I’m saying is no matter what the hate they brought towards her, she still stood up with her chest up and with her head up. That means a lot to me because I’m a super shy person. To see her fulfilling her dreams and doing that, let me know that I could do anything I put my mind to.
