Arin Ray is locked and loaded for the follow-up to 2018’s Platinum Fire. After cranking out a new song in April, the rising singer gathers more steam with “Gold,” a track that has production input from Los Hendrix (Givēon, SZA) and Camper (Mary J. Blige, Brandy), among others.
Back from out of space, “Gold” finds Ray on a quest to get back in front of the one who made him work for her time and affection. Mesmerized by the sexy shining armor of this specific lady, in and out of the bedroom, Ray’s stunning falsetto is bound to make her give him what he wants.
“You shine more than a diamond does / And them carats looking bright as f*ck / Girl, you know you got it / Oh yeah, that’s a queen to me / Put a crown right there for the world to see,” Ray sings.
Ray fleshes out the gorgeous message of “Gold” in the official video co-directed by Whipalo. Watch it below.
In April, after a three-year hiatus, Ray resurfaced with the D. Smoke-featured song “The Mood.” Since its release, the bedroom anthem has amassed close to 294,000 streams on Spotify. Still, there is no official word if “The Mood” is the lead single from his untitled sophomore album.
Ray’s next full-length LP will be issued through Interscope Records, serving as his first project since his EP Phase II. The five-track effort, released in late 2019, had a guest feature from Kehlani, who appeared on its first single, “Change.”
Dating back to February, Ray has stayed in the music mix, contributing to songs by Steelo, including “Uncle Elroy” with Fabolous and “My Love” featuring Buddy.
On July 21, Ray will perform on day one of the Cincinnati Music Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. Legends Janet Jackson and Charlie Wilson headline.
