Jill Scott is making her second album appearance in June. The Grammy winner aligned herself with jazz musician Theo Croker for his forthcoming album Love Quantum, which releases June 24 via Star People Nation/Sony Music Masterworks.
For their collaboration, “To Be We,” thaumaturgy is used in the form of mind-stimulating spoken word and honey-coated vocals delivered by Scott. She’s given enough room here by Croker and his boundless trunk of soul-jazz instruments to ensure devoted fans can lie back and enjoy what she does best.
“I wanted to create a song that gave Jill a theatrical landscape to tell the story of love from a divinely feminine perspective. And I couldn’t think of a more divinely feminine woman than Jill Scott,” said Croker.
The track has a lot of very cinematic qualities to it, both in terms of the sound and the depth of it, but Jill Scott’s wordplay and storytelling make you feel part of her universe and her story.”

Croker accompanied “To Be We” with a music video directed by D’Leau. Scott does not make an appearance in the video. Still, she can be heard and felt through the interpretive dancing of Marcella Lewis and poses by Croker himself.
Scott recently appeared on “Still Believe,” along with Alex Isley, on PJ Morton’s latest album, Watch The Sun. It’s been nearly seven years since Scott released her last album, Woman. She has kept herself occupied with acting gigs such as Lifetime’s Highway to Heaven. She will play Mahalia Jackson in the upcoming biopic, Mahalia!
In November 2021, Scott wrapped the first season of her Jill Scott Presents: J.ill the Podcast.
