Jennifer Hudson has shared the premiere date for her daytime talk show. The first episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show premieres Sept. 12 via Fox Television Stations and Hearst Television. Its debut also happens to be the award-winning singer and actress’ 40th birthday.
News about Hudson’s talk show made headlines back in March, following her winning two NAACP Image Awards. As teased in her date announcement, Hudson plans to light up daytime television with her infectious smile, along with her relatable personality and life story.
“People from around the world have been a part of my journey from the beginning – twenty years ago – and I’m so ready to join their journey as we sit down and talk about the things that inspire and move us all,” Hudson said.
“I have always loved people and I cannot wait to connect on a deeper level and let audiences see the different sides of who I am, the human being, in return. And I couldn’t be more thrilled to do it alongside this incredible team. We’re about to have a lot of fun and shake things up a little bit!”
The premiere date of The Jennifer Hudson Show comes just days after Hudson became the second Black woman to ascend to the EGOT level.

Hudson, who now stands on the shoulders of Whoopi Goldberg, completed the career trajectory of obtaining the four coveted awards (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) after A Strange Loop won Best Musical at the Tony Awards. She is also the third Black person to achieve this feat, following Goldberg and John Legend.
It has been a winning season for Hudson this year. Along with the above trophies, she accepted the Icon Award at the Urban One Honors in January.
At the 2022 BET Awards, Hudson’s role as the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin in last year’s Respect earned her a Best Actress nomination. Her music contributions to its soundtrack, specifically “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home),” which she co-wrote with Carole King, put her in the song race at the Golden Globes and MTV Movie & TV Awards.
Speaking of music, Hudson lent her vocals to albums by Robert Glasper (Black Radio III) and Anthony Hamilton (Love Is The New Black). However, regarding a solo album of her own, she hasn’t issued one since 2014’s JHUD.
