John Legend and Ariana Grande have earned a new award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Their 2017 collaboration “Beauty and the Beast,” from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast soundtrack, is now certified platinum with more than one million equivalent units sold.
“Beauty and the Beast” is the most popular track from the soundtrack. It has garnered more than 224 million streams on Spotify, and the official music video has 287 million views on YouTube.
Legend has been in good graces with the RIAA lately. “Beauty and the Beast” is the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner’s 11th award from the prestigious organization this year. Some of his updated certifications include “All of Me” (14x multi-platinum), “Green Light” (2x multi-platinum), “Love Me Now” (2x multi-platinum), “Ordinary People” (2x multi-platinum), Love in the Future (2x multi-platinum), and Evolver (platinum), to name a few.
As Legend celebrates his latest achievement, the global star is prepping to release his double album, LEGEND, on Sept. 9 via Republic Records.
The 24-track album will feature Legend’s previously shared tracks “Dope” featuring JID, “Honey” featuring Muni Long and “All She Wanna Do” featuring Saweetie. LEGEND will include additional appearances from Jazmine Sullivan, Jhené Aiko, Ty Dolla $ign, Ledisi, Amber Mark, Rick Ross and more.
On Oct. 14, Legend will resume his Las Vegas residency, “Love In Las Vegas,” at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. He will play eight shows through Oct. 29.
