Samm Henshaw is exploring collaboration territory. The British singer has teamed up with Chicago producer and DJ Smoko Ono on his new song “Pull Up.”
A sullen Henshaw is fresh out of a relationship on the colorful and vibrant track. He looks to rid himself of any more of its lousy energy by having someone new keep him company. But none of that stops him from reminiscing about what once was. Too bad his ex needed so-called space.
Speaking on the new single, Smoko Ono says, “For the past 2 years I’ve been really inspired by Chicago house and disco so I really wanted to tap into that and make something fun to DJ and people to dance to.”
Before his latest collab, Henshaw shared his debut album Untidy Soul. Released on Jan. 28, the 16-track album features Tobe Nwigwe, Maverick Sabre and Keyon Harrold. It includes the singles “Chicken Wings” and “Grow,” plus the song “Joy,” which was supported by a black-and-white video in April.
Henshaw embarked on a headlining North American tour following the album’s arrival. He’s still out on the road promoting Untidy Soul. On Aug. 27, he will perform at Jack’s Soul Live Festival in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
After a few more shows overseas, Henshaw will return to the U.S. in October to serenade audiences at the Wire and Wood Festival in Alpharetta, Georgia. Get Henshaw’s tour itinerary and ticket information via his official website.
