The-Dream has announced his plans to release a documentary, Love/Hate. The doc will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the singer/songwriter/producer’s immaculate debut album of the same title. (The album’s full title is Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter.)
The documentary is set to release in December, the same month as the album’s 2007 release. The-Dream shared the news on Twitter. He tweeted, “LoveHate Documentary DECEMBER 2022 ……………15 Years Later……… The Album that Changed Everything. Do you remember where you were when you first heard THE-DREAM’s First Album “Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter”?………”
Released on Dec. 11, 2007, Love/Hate included the hit single “Shawty Is Da Shit (Shawty Is a 10)” featuring Fabolous, “Falsetto” and “I Luv Your Girl.” The former track peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “I Luv Your Girl” reached No. 20, and “Falsetto” climaxed at No. 30 on the same chart.

Love/Hate scored The-Dream certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album, as well as “Falsetto” and “Shawty,” were all certified gold, selling 500,000 copies each.
After writing hits for artists such as Rihanna (“Umbrella”) and J. Holiday (“Bed”), The-Dream decided to pivot to a recording artist. “I felt like I needed to take full advantage of where I was at that time in my career,” he told Billboard in a 2017 interview. “I didn’t want to wait for Usher, Chris Brown, Beyoncé, or Rihanna to sing my songs. I just felt like I needed to showcase what I did beyond artists at that particular point.”
Since then, The-Dream has released seven full-length projects, including Love vs. Money (2009), Love King (2010), Terius Nash: 1977 (2012), IV Play (2013), Genesis (2017), Ménage à Trois: Sextape Vol. 1, 2, 3 (2018) and SXTP4 (2020). His most recent album, which stands for Sextape 4, includes the Jhené Aiko-assisted “Wee Hours.”
In 2019, The-Dream teased The Nikki Project, a nine-track album inspired by the mysterious character he introduced on his debut album (“Nikki”).
Fast forward to 2022. The-Dream has been receiving praise for his contribution to Beyoncé’s freshly-released seventh album, Renaissance. He co-wrote and co-produced the lead single “Break My Soul,” which is currently No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. He also worked on other tracks on the album, including “I’m That Girl,” “Cozy,” “America Has a Problem” and more.
