John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have welcomed their baby girl, Esti Maxine Stephens. The couple took to their Instagram accounts to confirm the news on Thursday (Jan. 19).
Teigen gave birth to Esti last Friday (Jan. 13), according to Legend’s Instagram post.
“On Friday, we welcomed Esti Maxine Stephens to our family, and our house is overflowing with love and joy,” Legend wrote in the caption. “I’m in awe of Chrissy’s strength and resilience and I’m so thrilled to see how Luna and Miles embrace their baby sister. I’m so, so grateful, but that doesn’t seem like a big enough word.”

Teigen wrote, “She’s here! Esti Maxine Stephens – the house is bustling and our family could not be happier 💕 Daddy sheds nightly tears of joy seeing Luna and Miles so full of love, and I am learning you still need diapers with a c section!? We are in bliss. Thank you for all the love and well wishes – we feel it! X.”
The couple announced they were expecting another child in August 2022. Esti is the youngest, behind Miles, 4, and Luna, 6.
In August 2020, Legend and Teigen revealed in the world premiere of Legend’s video for “Wild” featuring Gary Clark Jr. they were pregnant with their third child. A month later, Legend and Teigen shared that they lost their son, Jack, due to pregnancy complications.
“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Teigen wrote on Instagram. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
Teigen retracted her statement in September 2022 about losing their son Jack to a miscarriage at “A Day of Unreasonable Conversation,” a summit helmed by Propper Daley.
“Let’s just call it what it was: It was an abortion,” Teigen said, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “An abortion to save my life for a baby that had absolutely no chance. And to be honest, I never, ever put that together until, actually, a few months ago.”

Ahead of the summit, Teigen and Legend, like most of the world, saw the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade earlier that summer. As a result, she connected to those whose reproductive rights were stripped away.
She said, “I fell silent, feeling weird that I hadn’t made sense of it that way. I told the world we had a miscarriage, the world agreed we had a miscarriage, all the headlines said it was a miscarriage. And I became really frustrated that I didn’t, in the first place, say what it was, and I felt silly that it had taken me over a year to actually understand that we had had an abortion.”

Personal aside, Legend recently announced his unisex skincare brand Loved01 (pronounced “Loved One”). The line, formulated for melanin-rich skin, launches globally on Feb. 1.
“Our skin is beautifully rich and colorful, but it also needs constant care, love, and healing. Our goal is to create high-quality yet accessible products because everyone should experience the joy of beautiful and healthy skin,” Legend said.
Last September, Legend issued his eighth album LEGEND on Republic Records. The star-studded double album featured the top ten R&B hit “Honey” featuring Muni Long.
