Coco Jones is back with What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe), an expanded edition of her 2022 EP, via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings.
The project includes all the songs from What I Didn’t Tell You, such as “ICU” and “Caliber,” plus four new tracks. Among the new batch of songs is her duet with Babyface, “Simple,” which is also featured on the legendary singer and songwriter’s latest album, Girls Night Out.
“Fallin” drips with the sweetness of a honeycomb. Here, Jones finds herself lusting over a guy who knows how to please her in the bedroom: “I think I’m fallin’ in love with you and your body.”
On the anthemic “Put You On,” Jones reminds a pretentious ex of who they were before they rose to fame and how she played a role in their upgrade.
“Had to change the way you flex / Had you runnin’ up a check / Had to put you on game,” Jones sings over a production reminiscent of DeBarge’s 1983 classic “A Dream.”
Jones released What I Didn’t Tell You on Nov. 4, 2022. During her promo trail, Jones performed “ICU” at the 2022 Soul Train Awards on the BET Amplified stage.
“What I Didn’t Tell You is all about the stories that happen off camera,” Jones explained. “This project will hopefully share my real-life experiences with my fans and show them that I’m just like them. Sometimes people see me as the characters I play, but these stories are my own script.”
Aside from music, Jones will reprise her role as Hilary Banks in Peacock’s hit drama series Bel-Air, a reimagination of the hit sit-com The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
When asked what she would like to see more of in the next season of Bel-Air, Jones told W Magazine, “I want to see more of Hilary being in love, and I want to see her be successful. I think she’s on the journey, but I want to see her make it.”
In the same interview, Jones shared how she and the character she plays are similar: “We are headstrong in our goals. We know exactly what we want out of life.”
Season two of Bel-Air premieres Feb. 23.
