SZA has another hit under her belt. Her Rodney Jerkins-produced single “Shirt” rises to No. 1 at urban radio this week.
According to Mediabase, “Shirt” garnered 6,247 spins this week and tallied 18.5 million radio airplay audience impressions.
“Shirt” is SZA’s second chart-topper on the urban radio format. She landed her first No. 1 at urban radio in March 2022 with “I Hate U.”
Both songs appear on SZA’s platinum-selling sophomore album, SOS, which spent seven consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It marked the first R&B album to spend its first seven weeks at No. 1 since Whitney Houston’s 1987 sophomore album, Whitney, according to Billboard.
While “Shirt” has topped urban radio, SZA is looking to dominate another radio format: R&B radio. Her current focus track, “Kill Bill,” No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 at the time of publication, impacted R&B radio in late January.
The Rob Bisel and Carter Lang-produced cut has garnered more than 407 million streams on Spotify. On TikTok, more than 1.8 million videos have been created featuring “Kill Bill.”
Last Sunday (Feb. 5), SZA appeared at the 65th Grammy Awards to present the Best Música Urbana Album category, awarded to Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti.
SZA won her first Grammy in 2022 for “Kiss Me More,” her collaboration with Doja Cat. At the same ceremony, SZA told the press that her then-forthcoming sophomore album was complete. “It’s probably my most unisex project yet — if that makes sense. It’s definitely for everybody in a different way,” she shared.
Fast forward to now, SZA is gearing up to kick off her SOS North American Tour. The arena tour begins Feb. 21 in Columbus, Ohio.
From there, SZA will play in major cities in the U.S. and Canada, including Chicago, Toronto, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York and Vancouver. The North American leg concludes March 22 in Los Angeles, California.
