Grammy-winning singer Kali Uchis has returned with her new album, Red Moon In Venus.
Uchis launched her Red Moon In Venus era with “I Wish you Roses,” the album’s lead single produced by Josh Crocker and Dylan Wiggins. Choi Gi-Seok directed the official video.
A few weeks after “I Wish you Roses” debuted on various Billboard charts, including its Hot 100, Uchis shared the single “Moonlight.”
Of her new album, Uchis says, “Love is the message. Red Moon In Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus.”
She adds, “The moon and Venus work together to make key aspects of love and domestic life work well. This body of work represents all levels of love—releasing people with love, drawing love into your life and self-love. It’s believed by many astrologers that the blood moon can send your emotions into a spin, and that’s what I felt represented this body of work best.”
Summer Walker, Omar Apollo and Don Toliver appear on Red Moon In Venus. On “Deserve Me,” which features Walker, the two sing about an ungrateful lover whose presence isn’t as needed as he thinks.
Apollo joins Uchis on “Worth the Wait,” a moody funk groove, while Toliver appears on the tender dance number “Fantasy.”
Red Moon In Venus is Uchis’ third album, and second English album. In 2020, she released Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios) ∞, nominated for Best Música Urbana Album.
Uchis will support all three albums at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this spring. The two-weekend festival is set to take place April 14 through April 16 and April 21 through 23 at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
Uchis will return on stage for her headlining tour. The Live Nation-powered tour begins on April 25 in Austin, Texas.
