Emerging singer-songwriter Khamari has returned with “On My Way,” which he co-produced with Trackside.
Khamari’s smooth vocals cruise the relaxed production, as he sings about relocating to pursue his dream of being an artist.
“Hear the City of Angels, calling my name for some time / When I reach the gates, I reach the gates, it’s all mine / Paving the way, hold on to faith, it’s divine / I’m on my way,” Khamari sings over a sample of Al Green‘s 1972 hit “Love and Happiness.”
“In the middle of the pandemic, I packed everything I owned into my car and drove across the country from Boston to Los Angeles,” says Khamari. “‘On My Way’ is a song about my move, my confidence in knowing I was making the right decision starting fresh so I could build something from the ground up.”

“On My Way” is the follow-up to Khamari’s 2022 tracks “Drifting” and “Tell Me.”
Regarding the latter song, Khamari explained to Rated R&B, “It’s just me telling the story about the anxiety that goes into being in a relationship — when you don’t know where you stand with somebody and it’s just this back and forth. That can be very unhealthy for anybody that’s trying to figure things out in their life in general.”
All three tracks, as well as 2021’s “Doctor, My Eyes,” are expected to appear on Khamari’s forthcoming project.
While there aren’t many details available about the project, Khamari told Rated R&B: “As an artist, I think your job is to just go through life and then just tell the stories that are honest to your perspective at that time. With this project — this batch of music I’m making — I’m just applying that same concept and doing it to a more mature version of myself.”
The untitled project will follow Khamari’s 2020 EP, Eldorado.
