Emerging R&B singer Josh Levi has returned with “Ego,” his first taste of new music in 10 months. He co-wrote the flirtatious banger with Trey Campbell and Anthony “TONE” Jones, who also produced the track.
“This one is all about confidence, knowing your power, and getting what you want,” Levi explained in an Instagram caption.
In the opening verse, he sings, “I want you wonderin’ / While I’m across the room I want you guessin’ / If I even looked at you / The moment you walked in / I had to play it cool / ‘Cause I knew right away / I had some work to do.”

As noted above, “Ego” is Levi’s first song release since his 2022 EP, Disc Two. The EP included bops like “NASA,” “Vices” and the Normani-assisted “Don’t They (Remix).” The R&B-pop star made a cameo in the video for the original version of “Don’t They.”
In an interview with Rated R&B, Levi revealed how the remix came to fruition. “It all just kind of happened. I thought [Normani] was joking on set of that video. She was like, ‘Send me the song.’ I was like, ‘Stop playing with me.’ But she was actually serious. She’s like, ‘No, for real.’ So we wrote that. We finished it. We produced it a little bit more and brought it to life,” Levi told Rated R&B.
He also described Disc Two as a coming-of-age project. “It’s uncensored, more raw and honest. It’s Disc One on steroids. I’m really expressing the things that I’ve been through. Disc One was 2020. A lot has happened since then in my life, my relationships, my career, my family and my mind,” Levi explained.
Levi supported his project on The Vices Tour from late August to mid-September 2022. His headlining show included stops in Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston.
In January, Levi released a performance visual for “Nosebleed,” another track from Disc Two.
