THEY. are back. The R&B duo, composed of singer/songwriter Drew Love and producer Dante Jones, has released their third album, Nü Moon. It’s the follow-up to its 2020 sophomore LP, The Amanda Tape.
The Nü Moon campaign started last spring with “Blü Moon,” a song designed to remind fans of the early 2000s R&B. Three other songs were issued in 2022, two of which were collaborations, “Comfortable” with Fana Hues and “Lonely” with Bino Rideaux.
In the weeks leading to the album, THEY. dropped two more songs, “In The Mood” with Yung Bleu and “Riptide.” The former track, co-produced by Jones, Los Hendrix and Caleb Contreras, officially begins Nü Moon.
Songs such as the Yung Bleu-assisted jam and “Moonlight” are focused on catchy moments and vivid details with a particular woman.
Meanwhile, “Twenty One” tells a tale of beating the odds, and “Brutally Honesty” is a brief wake-up call toward self-improvement.
Regarding Nü Moon, THEY. share, “This is our most introspective album to date. We really wanted to make something that felt personal and also reflective of our thoughts and trials we go through at this stage in our lives.”
They continue, “Nü Moon is meant to represent a new era for THEY. We look at every album as an opportunity for us to reinvent ourselves and refine our sound. We covered a lot of new ground sonically on this album while still maintaining the darker R&B sound our fans have come to love over the years. Being independent for the first time in our careers has put the power back in our hands.”
