Jordan Hawkins has teamed with Duckwrth for his new single “Can’t Fake What You Feel.” The track was co-written by Hawkins and Duckwrth in collaboration with Mack Keane. It was produced by the latter with the help of ESTA, Stari, Mauricio, and King Oliver.
Hawkins sings over a mix of electric guitar, sparkling keys, drums, and trumpet, expressing a desire to distance themselves from a partner who appears disinterested.
A possible reason for this individual’s reluctance to express their emotions with him could be attributed to Hawkins’ past mistakes. However, he assures them that those errors are in the past and no longer relevant.
Duckwrth is more cutthroat with his desire for his lover to be more open about their feelings. “So I hope you not faking / My heart is all vacant, my bed is all spacious / But I’m only so patient / My hotline blinging, got another mama waiting,” he raps.
“Can’t Fake What You Feel” is the latest track from Hawkins since releasing his 4Play EP in April.
Regarding 4Play, Hawkins told Rated R&B, “Trying to find love in LA let alone anywhere in the world is never straightforward. 4Play details the evolution of a relationship fueled by sex, lust, and passion. Starting at a party and ending with the question ‘What are we?’ 4Play encapsulates stories from my life that I’m sure other will be able to relate to.”
Most recently, Duckwrth appeared on Harlem DJ and producer Austin Millz’s Breathwork EP. The release included guest appearances by Estelle, Justine Skye, Sabrina Claudio and more.
