R&B veteran Sammie is going to be a father for the first time with Teanna Reid. They recently announced that they are expecting a baby girl and have chosen the name Journee.
After the baby shower, Sammie shared some news on Instagram. “I’ll try to keep it short: to my tribute who’s known yet respected the sacredness, I thank you & I’m ever so grateful for the support and community (our village),” he wrote in a caption for a photo of him kissing Reid’s stomach.
He continued, “God equip me as I embark on breaking generational chains and too…provide to me the tools & discipline to be a great leader, bf, father/dad & one day husband. My prayer is for a Godly, healthy and loving baby. Thank you Tea’ for being who you are. Honored and happy to ‘Journee’ thru life with you.”

In a separate post, Sammie mentioned that he had contemplated not living after his 36th birthday (March 1). However, he found a renewed sense of purpose upon discovering that he would be a father. The music played in the background of the post is an unreleased track titled “Sweet Baby.”
“Wrote this song before I knew the gender of my child. It’s the closing outro to my album that’s soon to come. Thank God for being God. To my family and friends, fans that’s kept me alive with/or without knowing my fragile state of mind. I’m grateful,” shared Sammie.
Speaking of new music, Sammie last dropped a full-length album in 2020 titled Such Is Life… The 12-track project included features from Tank and Rotimi.
Regarding the album, Sammie said, “Such Is Life… I’ve learned that the process is what I should fall in love with. Not the results. Everything good, and bad has molded me into the man that I am. Roll with the punches. Live, learn and grow.”
In 2021, Sammie released his inspirational EP 3:33 after providing accompanying visuals for his last album.
Sammie joined the new R&B group RSVP after touring with Eric Bellinger last year. The group also includes Ray J, Bobby V, and Pleasure P.
Under the RSVP moniker, the quartet released the song “Money Everywhere” in late 2022. The official video was rolled out in February.
