Emerging singer, songwriter and musician Jordan Hawkins has shared his new EP, 4Play.

Hawkins launched the campaign for his sophomore solo EP in July 2022, with the Super Power” as the lead single. Later that year, he performed the track for COLORS, before issuing an acoustic version.

Two more singles were issued in 2022, including “Play” and “Screamin’” featuring rising R&B gent Reggie Becton.

Regarding the latter track, Hawkins told Rated R&B, “‘Screamin’ is an organic collaboration between two artists that have been growing in LA together for a while. After multiple attempts to get a song, we both liked a random tweet [that] spawned the session that resulted in the one.”

Weeks prior to 4Play, Hawkins joined forces with Phabo for the Donell Jones-influenced “Timeless.”

Of 4Play, Hawkins tells Rated R&B, “Trying to find love in LA let alone anywhere in the world is never straightforward. 4Play details the evolution of a relationship fueled by sex, lust, and passion. Starting at a party and ending with the question ‘What are we?’ 4Play encapsulates stories from my life that I’m sure others will be able to relate to.”

Additionally, 4Play includes “Risky,” a song that previously appeared on his 2021 debut EP, Heart Won’t Stop. His new set is his first project since the latter release.

“The Heart Won’t Stop EP is a collection of stories from my love life in Los Angeles. Deeper love has always inspired me to make more meaningful music and relationships definitely inspired the bulk of the EP,” Hawkins explained to Rated R&B.

The rave reviews for Heart Won’t Stop landed him on the lineup for the 2022 Roots Picnic.

Under his NAIVE banner, Hawkins and his songwriting and production colleagues put out Live from Ursula Ave.

The eight-track project included covers of their favorite R&B jams, from Tamia’s “So Into You” and SZA’s “I Hate U” to D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” and Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor.”

NAIVE also had placements on Yam Grier, the 2022 debut album from Rated R&B’s Front + Center artist Zyah Belle. Hawkins lent his vocals as a featured artist, appearing on “Back to Back.”
