R&B vocalist Leela James has returned with her new single “Right Back In It,” which she co-wrote with Franci Richard.
Produced by Rex Rideout, “Right Back In It” is a blissful tune that highlights the power of love and its ability to prevail even in the midst of hard times.
James sings in verse two: “Almost lost it / All those nights that we wasted just beefin’ / I was here, you were there / We were sinkin’ What were we thinkin’? / We were just trippin’ so young and conflicted / Now we back in this thang again.”
Speaking on her new song, James explains, “My music is my art and I’m always excited to share my craft with the world. ‘Right Back In It’ is special as it highlights the importance of getting back to yourself, getting back to love, and getting back to what makes you feel good.”
“Right Back In It” is accompanied by an official video produced by Dang Films. The cinematic video follows two fugitives on the run. Despite being wanted by authorities, their love for each other remains undeterred by any obstacles.
In fact, they make a pitstop at a lounge, where they dance to the sounds of a live band as they cherish each other’s company. Things get more interesting after they exit the venue and are back on the road. You’ll have to watch to see how it all plays out.
“Right Back In It” is the lead single from James’ forthcoming album that is due this fall. It will follow her album, See Me, which was among Rated R&B’s 30 Best R&B Albums of 2021 list.
The album included James’ hit single “Complicated,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in September 2021. A month after topping the chart, James released her “Complicated (Remix)” featuring fellow soul singer Anthony Hamilton.
Ahead of her upcoming album, James will tour the U.S., beginning tonight (July 14) in Augusta, Georgia. She will perform in major cities such as New Orleans, Houston, Memphis, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and more.
