All aboard! Maxwell has announced his Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite Cruise, which sets sail from Feb. 10, 2024, through Feb. 14, 2024, on the Norwegian Pearl.
The four-night cruise, which will feature two performances by Maxwell, will make stops in Great Stirrup Cay and Nassau, Bahamas.
In addition to live music, there will be parties, comedy and other activities for passengers.
According to the cruise’s official website, cabin sales open Thursday, July 13, at noon ET.
Maxwell’s upcoming cruise is named after his debut album, Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite. The album was released on April 2, 1996, via Columbia Records.
“Regardless of how people accepted [Urban Hang Suite], I knew that I was creatively engineering something that would bring me satisfaction because there was no concept in anyone’s mind that a record like this would do anything — at all,” Maxwell told Rated R&B in 2021.
Maxwell also revealed that he had a vision for his debut album years before it was officially released. “It was always a thing for me; even in 1992, it was a thing I wanted to do. I had the title of the album. It was that sort of creative visualization where you have something you want to do in your mind, [but] the world hasn’t caught up with your wish,” Maxwell said to Rated R&B.
Before Maxwell kicks off his cruise, he has a few shows lined up. From Aug. 9 through Aug. 12, he will play three shows in Las Vegas, Nevada, at Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas.
On a music front, it’s been nearly two years since Maxwell released his single “OFF,” which is expected to appear on his highly awaited album, blacksummers’NIGHT. The bedroom jam peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart in March 2022.
The album will mark the final installment of his trilogy that he launched in July 2009. The second installment, blackSUMMERS’night arrived in July 2016.
At this time, there isn’t a release date set for blacksummers’NIGHT.
