TA Thomas Caught Between 2 Worlds EP

TA Thomas

Emerging R&B singer TA Thomas has released his debut EP, Caught Between 2 Worlds.

The 11-track project was primarily produced by Camper, with additional production by Ali Roots A16 and Ray Keys. It includes the previously shared songs “June 15th,” “Pros and Cons,” and “W.I.A (Where I’m At).”

Speaking on his debut EP, TA told Rated R&B, “We’re coming to a moment in time where guys are becoming a lot more vulnerable. This project embodies the male perspective of being in and out of love.”

Caught Between 2 Worlds opens with “Self Check,” an honest track where TA candidly tells his partner that he needs time to work on himself before he can continue the relationship.

“Can’t lift you up / With this weight in my chest / Cup damn near empty / So many feelings / I had to suppress,” he sings on the bittersweet tune, produced by Ali Roots A16.

On the titular track and standout, TA finds himself at a crossroads where he is “stuck between closure or starting over” in terms of a relationship. He sings, “I’m here lookin’ at your face, staring back at mine / It’s hard to deny, such a natural high.”

Songs like “June 15th” and “Truth Is” explore some of the challenges that come with love. “‘June 15th’ tells the story of a love that has gone from passionate to passive, from lovers to roommates,” TA explained to Rated R&B. “It illustrates a cold war battle of passive disconnections and fleeting emotions.”

Meanwhile, on the sobering “Truth Is,” TA realizes how much he is projecting his own guilt onto his trust issues with his partner.

TA balances love’s pitfuls with songs like “Take It All” and “Sensation,” a buttery jam where TA is eager to make a deep connection with his partner between the sheets.

Caught Between 2 Worlds is a featureless project, proving that TA can captivate listeners for 30 minutes as he flexes his vocal chops over lush instrumentation.

As noted above, Caught Between 2 Worlds is TA Thomas’ first solo project. The rising singer and songwriter was previously in the now-disbanded R&B group Next Town Down. The group released their Juliet EP in 2019 on RCA Records. The project included features from 6LACK, Rich the Kid, and Calboy.
