Rising singer-songwriter Hunnah has unleashed her new EP, That’s All For Now.
The independently released project consists of five tracks, including the lead single, “Like This.”
The latter song arrived in mid-September and marked her first piece of new music in two years.
“I hope these songs can be to you what they were to me, a cathartic expression of my frustrations and insecurities. That’s it’s a release of some kind to listen to this project,” Hunnah wrote in an Instagram post.
On “Someone Else,” Hunnah expresses her desire to mean more to an uninterested romantic interest: “Wish I had more to give you than just this melody / Wish I knew how to change myself to be just like your dreams. ”
“Numb” is Hunnah’s take on chipmunk soul, letting an unworthy person know that she is no longer in a position to stick around for a relationship going nowhere fast.
The final track on That’s All For Now, titled “Too Much,” further showcases Hunnah’s ability to tug at heartstrings and ask the hard questions in a relationship.
In the song, Hunnah asks her companion if they find it too difficult to love her, even though she knows she can be challenging to handle, but insists that her intentions are good.
That’s All For Now is Hunnah’s follow-up to her 2021 EP, Unloved, inspired by her lack of experience with love.
“I just started writing about all of my anxieties and fears around what does it mean to be 27 and never been in love? Is this normal? I don’t really meet a lot of people who are on the same plane of existence as me,” Hunnah explained to Rated R&B in a 2021 interview.
She continued, “I was very career-focused and just focused on other things. It didn’t bother me a lot when I was younger that I wasn’t really in relationships and didn’t have this part of my life.”
