Justine Skye has returned with her new single, “Whip It Up.”
It’s a delightful blend of dance and pop, sure to satisfy those who crave a taste. In “Whip It Up,” Skye shows off her confidence in her ability to please a famished lover.
“Ain’t no need for words, I know just what you like / anyone before me was a waste of time,” she sings.
Skye co-wrote “Whip It Up” with Nija Charles and Sad Boy. The latter, who worked with John Legend and Drake, produced the track, while Charles was an inaugural Grammy nominee for Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical.
“Whip It Up” is the follow-up to Skye’s 2022 track “What a Lie.” The latter song garnered over 3.7 million streams since releasing April 2022. Meanwhile, the official video has over half a million views on YouTube.

Earlier this year, Skye found herself promoting her 2014 single “Collide” after it gained renewed interest via a TikTok challenge. She performed the song on a winter episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Skye released Dark Side weeks before her late-night performance. The compilation featured three versions of “Collide,” including the original with Tyga, a solo version, and a sped-up version. It also included tracks from her other projects, including Space and Time from 2021 (more on that later).
“Collide,” produced by Mustard, went certified gold for more than 500,000 equivalent units sold in March. It marked her first certification from the RIAA.
In June, Skye appeared on Harlem DJ and producer Austin Millz’s debut EP, Breathwork.
As noted previously, Skye’s last studio album Space and Time came out in June 2021. The 11-track effort was produced entirely by the legendary Timbaland.
Space and Time includes features from Justin Timberlake and Rema. Singles included “Twisted Fantasy” and “Intruded” featuring Timbaland.
“I found a different level of confidence in myself and in my sound. I think that I rushed a lot of times because I just felt like I needed to put something out,” Skye told Apple Music.
“This was the first time I actually sat down and really thought it through and, I think, the first time that I’m actually saying a lot of the things that I always probably wanted to but didn’t know how to.”
