Kyle Dion has announced his new EP, If My Jeans Could Talk, will release Jan. 19, 2024, via Position music. It will mark the alt-soul singer’s first project released on the label.
Dion revealed the project artwork, featuring a large image of himself in front of a yellow background, wearing stylish jeans with the title text.
Discussing the creation of If My Jeans Could Talk, Dion said, “I escaped LA and recorded a majority of this EP in Montreal with my friends Miko and Soran. I felt safe and was able to be vulnerable and talk about a lot of things on this project. Thank you for allowing me to live the past year. I’m back.”
No further details have been shared, such as the tracklist for If My Jeans Could Talk. It has not been confirmed if “Boyfriend Jeans,” Dion’s first single of the year, will appear. However, “Let’s Get It On,” produced by Soran, is confirmed as the lead single.
Dion’s EP announcement arrives with an official video for “Let’s Get It On,” which Rachel Rinehardt directed.
In the video, Dion rides his motorcycle into the city and catches the eye of a girl through the window of a convenience store. He’s clearly very attracted to her and expresses his feelings rather enthusiastically.
Dion also has announced the dates for his If My Jeans Could Talk US/EU Pop-Up Tour to follow the release of his EP.
The three-date tour starts Feb. 21, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, at Echoplex. It will conclude March 7, 2024, at Jazz Café in London, United Kingdom. Dion will also perform at Knitting Factory in New York during this time.
If My Jeans Could Talk is the follow-up to Dion’s sophomore album, SASSY, released in September 2021. In Rated R&B‘s interview with Dion, he explained how Michael Jackson’s Bad album inspired his second full-length.
“Bad, one of my favorite albums from Michael, was a pop-leading album and kind of this bad attitude in his own way,” Dion commented. “I feel like this [album] was my rendition of that in a sense of a bit of pop, giving more attitude, being a little raunchy, and just having fun and being who I really am.”
In the summer of 2022, Dion expanded SASSY with four additional tracks, including “Spoon & Bang,” with Joyce Wrice as his love interest in the official visualizer.
