Eric Bellinger is wasting no time sharing new music in 2024. The Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter has issued his new single, “La Perla.” It was produced by KP Wentworth (Tone Stith, Keke Palmer) and B HAM (Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj).
Named after the luxury lingerie brand, “La Perla” finds Bellinger seranding his woman in the bedroom. He assures her Italian-made undergarments will be “comin’ off tonight,” leaving no barriers between their skin-to-skin action.
“Girl, you know the drill / You know how I feel / I can hear your body callin’ / Tellin’ me how bad you want it,” he sings.
Regarding “La Perla,” Bellinger tells Rated R&B: “At this point, I’m just having fun! Doin’ me! Unapologetically my most authentic self. Singing about my life and my truth. Only worried and focused on what feels good to me. No politics. No boundaries.”
He continues, “‘La Perla’ is the ultimate representation of where I am currently. The R&B. The bop. The refreshing sonics. The evolution of classic. The two-step with your hands up that you didn’t even realize you went into when the song came on. The catchy yet potent melodies. I had to take it back to The Rebirth (Part 1) when I trusted myself and went with my own intuition. As we grow, we tend to overthink at times. But when you let the music lead, you always succeed.”
“La Perla” arrives with a video of Bellinger performing the bedroom banger at a nightclub before bringing the lyrics to life later in the evening with his wife LaMyia, a former member of the R&B girl group Isyss.
“When it was time to shoot the video for ‘La Perla,’ it was only one person to call — and it was the Eaziest Call! Shooting a video with my wife LaMyia Good-Bellinger is what makes it feel so real because it IS,” Bellinger tells Rated R&B.
“We rarely let people in, but when we POP out, it’s special. Not only did we release the song on the New Year but it was also our 9th anniversary as well. What better way to represent R&B, than with true love.”
Bellinger co-wrote “La Perla” with Corey Cooper and the song’s producer B HAM. It is the follow-up to “All For Me,” released in November 2023.
Both songs will appear on Bellinger’s upcoming album, The Rebirth 3, out Feb. 9. The previous installment was released Feb. 22, 2019, and The Rebirth 1 arrived Feb. 11, 2014.
Bellinger will support his upcoming project on The Rebirth Tour with special guest Zae France. The trek begins Jan. 31 in Fresno, California, and concludes March 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Last year, Bellinger released 1(800)HIT-EAZY: Line 2, his joint album with producer Hitmaka.
