Keith Sweat celebrated Valentine’s Day with a new song, “Lay You Down,” produced by Wirlie Morris.
On the passionate track, Sweat serenades his significant other, expressing his desire to please her to the fullest extent in the bedroom.
“‘Cause I just want to lay you down / I’m so into you, make love I will do / You got me thinking / I just want to, lay it down / I’m so into you, there’s nothing I’ll do,” he sings in the chorus.
“Lay You Down” is the follow-up to Sweat’s 2021 single “Can’t Nobody” featuring Raheem DeVaughn. The song, produced by Sweat and Morris, peaked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.
“At this stage of my career, I make music that move me to say something. I am not interested in releasing music for the sake of statistics,” Sweat said about the standalone track. “I really became a fan of Raheem last year when we worked together and wanted to do a song with him. This is the result of that collaboration.”
Sweat’s last album, Playing For Keeps, was released in 2019. The 13-track offering included features from K-Ci Hailey, Teddy Riley, Tank, Akon and more.
In other news, his 1987 debut album, Make It Last Forever, will be reissued on vinyl via Rhino Records on Feb. 23 as part of the company’s Black History Month celebration.
Make It Last Forever was released Nov. 2, 1987, via Elektra Records. The album included the lead single “I Want Her,” which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Black Singles charts (now called Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs).
