Tinashe has revealed her new album, Quantum Baby, will release Aug. 16 via Nice Life Recording Company.
The project is the second installment of a trilogy following 2023’s BB/ANG3L.
“Quantum Baby is about getting to know me on a deeper level,” explains Tinashe. “It’s about exploring who I am as a person and who I am as an artist.”
She continues, “I’ve never been one to be put into a box, so the name Quantum Baby encompasses all the different parts that make up who I am as a creative.”
Quantum Baby is led by Tinashe’s viral hit “Nasty,” No. 62 on the Billboard Hot 100 at publication time, and the second single, “Getting No Sleep,” which is out today (June 28). She co-wrote the euphoric track with the song’s producers Nosaj Thing and Billy Lemos.
“Feels Friday like, different night, same vibe / Take you outside, movie scene every time / Flick me up, I’m fitted up, so pretty, no bad side / Not a dog, but it’s in me, taking shots like I’m Lindsay,” she sings.
“Getting No Sleep” is accompanied by a video directed by Jonah Haber, which can be watched below.
As indicated above, Quantum Baby is the follow-up to BB/ANG3L. The album featured the singles “Needs” and “Talk To Me Nice.” Nosaj Thing co-produced the latter track with Scoop Deville.
“For BB/ANG3L, I was very inspired by the concept of identity. Exploring both how I self-identify and also challenging the perceptions of others,” explained Tinashe.
“I believe how we identify in this world is ultimately our own personal choice; and I’ve enjoyed stripping back layers of aesthetic fluff, smoke & mirrors, and white noise to get down to the core of myself. Who we are at a core level, when we are alone – raw & unfiltered, is what I want this album to reflect.”
