Elijah Blake is back with his new single “Company” from his upcoming eponymous album, elijah.
Produced by Cmillz, “Company” finds Blake longing for comfort from a special person.
“You know what I need / You know that I can’t breathe / I want you to stay here with me / And have some company, baby,” he sings.
“Company” follows “Sugarwater & Lime” and “Ghostbuster.” All three songs will appear on elijah., which will release Aug. 2 via MNRK Records.
“With ‘Ghostbuster,’ I wanted to create a sonic and visual journey that transcends boundaries, allowing listeners to immerse themselves in a hauntingly beautiful experience,” explained Blake. “It’s a blend of my musical roots with a modern twist, and I’m thrilled to share this artistic expression with the world.”
Regarding “Sugarwater & Lime,” Blake exclusively told Rated R&B, “Every time I try to explain how I feel but can’t find the words, I often reference an analogy, and that’s the heart of this song. It talks about entering a relationship without having the ingredients to fulfill each other’s pallets completely. In hindsight, the only way I can describe past heartbreak is like trying to squeeze lemon juice out of lime. You can get close to the taste, but it’ll never be so.”
Elijah is the follow-up to Blake’s 2021 album, The Neon Eon. The 10-track project included features from Keyshia Cole (“Bad Liar – Remix“), Tamar Braxton, Trinidad James (“Dreams“), Durand Bernarr, Muni Long, D Smoke, Rome Flynn and BOPPAPI.
