Jennifer Hudson will embark on a mini tour later this fall. The EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) winner has announced The Gift of Love: An Intimate Tour Experience.
The five-date outing begins Nov. 24 at Kings Theatre in Brooklyn and concludes Dec. 22 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas in Las Vegas.
Tickets for The Gift of Love: An Intimate Tour Experience are on sale now.
Hudson’s upcoming tour will support her first-ever holiday album, The Gift of Love, which releases Oct. 18 via Interscope Records.
The 16-track set includes Hudson’s take on holiday classics such as “O Holy Night,” “Little Drummer Boy” and “The Christmas Song,” plus original tunes.
Additionally, The Gift of Love will feature a collaboration with rapper Common on “Almost Christmas” and South African quintet The Joy on “Carol of the Bells.”
For production, Hudson worked closely with Ryan Tedder, who is the album’s executive producer, plus David Foster, Greg Phillinganes, Kirk Franklin, James Poyser, Fede Vindver, and Peer Åström.
The Gift of Love will mark Hudson’s first non-soundtrack album since 2014’s JHUD. The album included the singles “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel)” featuring T.I. and “Walk It Out” featuring Timbaland. Further, it included the dvsn-penned and produced “Dangerous,” which is the album’s opening track.
JHUD debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and No. 10 on the Billboard 200.
Following JHUD, Hudson helmed the Respect (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), released in 2021 via Epic Records. The soundtrack included Hudson’s renditions of Aretha Franklin classics and an original song, ” Here I Am (Singing My Way Home),” which she co-wrote with Carol King and Jamie Hartman.
Hudson portrayed Franklin in the critically acclaimed film, winning Entertainer of the Year and Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards in 2022.
In other news, Hudson has teamed with Hallmark to help celebrate the 15th anniversary of its Countdown to Christmas programming event and its 2024 Joy to Your World holiday campaign with an exclusive original song, “Let There Be Joy.”
“No one does the holidays quite like my friends at Hallmark, so I couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate the season together with my new song ‘Let There Be Joy,’ as we Countdown to Christmas,” Hudson said in a statement. “Music and movies have always been a favorite holiday tradition for me and my family, so I hope this song can become the same tradition for everyone on Santa’s list this year!”
