Teyana Taylor has been showered with a new certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
“Gonna Love Me,” a single from her second album, K.T.S.E. (Keep That Same Energy), has been certified 2x multi-platinum, with over two million equivalent units sold. It’s Taylor’s first song release to achieve this milestone.
The hip-hop-flavored track, Taylor’s first song to be awarded by the RIAA, achieved gold status in April 2019 and was later certified platinum in January 2021.
Taylor’s “Gonna Love Me (Remix),” featuring Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon, remains certified gold. The collaboration earned its award in January 2023.
Returning to the standard version of “Gonna Love Me,” the track features co-songwriting assistance from Nova Wav and co-production from Ye (formerly Kanye West). It rose to No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart, making it Taylor’s only top 10 hit there.
According to Spotify, “Gonna Love Me” has amassed 244 million streams and remains one of Taylor’s most popular songs on the platform.
Meanwhile, the official video for “Gonna Love Me” has over 8.8 million views on YouTube.
Taylor has not released a full-length project since her 2020’s The Album, despite receiving three RIAA awards and other accolades in 2023.
After receiving acclaim for her breakthrough role in A Thousand and One last year, Taylor is continuing to immerse herself in the acting field.
She is set to make her directorial debut with Get Lite, a film developed by Paramount Pictures, in which Storm Reid will play the lead role.
Taylor, who is in talks to portray music icon Dionne Warwick in a biopic, has also been cast in Tyler Perry’s upcoming Netflix original, Straw, and in a legal series titled All’s Fair, which is headed to Hulu.
