R&B sister duo The Amours has returned with their new single “The Game,” co-produced by Camper and Mamii.
Over a soulful backdrop, Jakiya and Shaina sing about finding someone capable of filling the void in their current relationship.
“Tired of being misunderstood / Don’t think it’s wrong to feel this good / I’m over here wishing that he could / If he wanted, he would,” they sing.
Speaking on “The Game,” The Amours state, “From the moment we heard the production of this song we knew we had to write to it. It felt fun, flirty ‘very cutesy.’ We think that the great thing about being artist is that we’re able to create a new masterpiece with every single song or era.”
They continue, “Not placing ourselves in a box and being open to playing around with different sounds, melodies and hooks that we wouldn’t typically do. ‘The Game’ isn’t too far off from how we talk that talk, but this time around we sprinkled a little sugar on it to make it sweeter.”
“The Game” is the D.C.-based duo’s first offering since releasing their debut EP, Changes, in April. The Camper-produced project included the singles “JK, I Love You,” “On The Run,” and “Pick Me Up” featuring TA Thomas.
“The process of formulating this project has been one of the best experiences of our lives. We were able to really dig deep and showcase a level of vulnerability we have yet to reveal to our fans,” The Amours explained. “In the midst of this process, we’ve gone through a whirlwind of changes. From the EP title to the shift in songs, scratching everything and starting over. We’ve embraced every single change we’ve had to endure.”
Follow their debut EP release, The Amours embarked on their headlining Changes Tour.
