Emerging singer Col3trane has teamed with R&B newcomer Chase Shakur for his brand new single, “Crocodile Tears.”
On the blurry track, co-produced by Rayo and Alex Naim, Col3trane and Chase Shakur remain unfazed by their partner’s fake display of emotion, understanding it’s merely a tactic to manipulate the situation.
Speaking on his new single, Col3trane explained, “‘Crocodile Tears’ is about doing too much for someone and not getting enough in return. I feel like a lot of people can relate to feeling like nothing you do is ever enough, but this song definitely feels to me like it’s more about being over it than anything else.”
“Crocodile Tears” arrives with a lo-fi music video, which can be watched below.
“Crocodile Tears” is Col3trane’s second song release of the year, following “When Have You Been All My Life?” which was shared on Oct. 4 via his label Trane of Thought Records in partnership with UnitedMasters.
Featured on tracks by Alina Baraz, H.LLS, and Quinn Oulton, Col3trane last headlined in June 2023 when he dropped his Chekhov’s Gun EP. The six-track project included the previously shared tracks “Simp” and “Queen’s Disease.”
Before this EP, Col3trane shared a one-off track (“Astrology Joint“) and his debut album, Lush Life, in 2022. The latter project includes the singles “Logan Paul” and “Bag” with Lucky Daye.
Also, Lush Life includes features from Erick the Architect and Flatbush Zombies.
As for Chase Shakur, he released “Limerence” in September as the lead single from his debut album, Wonderlove.
Speaking on his latest single, Chase Shakur told Rated R&B, “My debut album, Wonderlove, is the best work me and my team have done so far, and ‘Limerence’ is a part of that work I really wanted to release it as a single because it’s different than my other work. It has a different feel, a different vibe, and I’m excited for fans to enter the world of Wonderlove.”
Chase Shakur’s collaboration with Destin Laurel, “Passenger Seat Princess,” released in August, will also be included on Wonderlove.
In March, Chae Shakur put out a two-song release: The Stunt-Man Pack.
