Mariah the Scientist has achieved a new award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Her 2021 track “2 You” has been certified gold. The Camper-produced song has sold over 500,000 equivalent units in the U.S.

“2 You” is the second song from Mariah the Scientist’s RY RY WORLD to earn an RIAA certification.

Her Lil Baby-assisted “Always n Forever” received a gold plaque in 2023. She also earned a platinum award for “Spread Thin” from her 2022 EP, Buckles Laboratories Presents: The Intermission.

Circling back to “2 You,” Mariah the Scientist shared the correlation between its music video and her visual for “Aura,” another song from RY RY WORLD.

“Both videos are metaphors,” she told Office Magazine. “‘2 You’ is more like a post-death kind of thing. I know it sounds kind of crazy, but it’s almost like when people say they have near-death experiences and then they ‘see the light.’ It’s like I saw into the light almost, and then the next one will explain more of how we made it to that point, at least metaphorically, it will.”

The video for “2 You” has 12 million views on YouTube, while the song itself has over 32 million streams on Spotify. It’s the second-most streamed song from the album on Spotify, behind “Always n Forever.”

In 2023, after signing a new deal with Epic Records, Mariah the Scientist released her album To Be Eaten Alive. The project was preceded by the singles “Bout Mine” and “From A Woman.”

Speaking on the album’s title, Mariah the Scientist explained, “Scorpions, like myself, are considered non-social and solitary animals. Interacting only on rare occasion, such as courtship. For the grand and notable lion, the scorpion seems to be a small feat. They are an unpredictable match and yet they establish a mutual respect for each other’s curious differences.”

The Atlanta-born singer supported her album on the To Be Eaten Alive Tour. Since releasing To Be Eaten Alive, Mariah the Scientist has collaborated with rappers 21 Savage (“Dark Days“), Latto (“Look What You Did“), Tee Grizzley (“Situationship“) and more.

She also appears on Kaytranada‘s Grammy-nominated album, TIMELESS, on “Out of Luck,” which is also featured on To Be Eaten Alive.

Mariah the Scientist is currently on the road with upcoming stops in Seattle, Vancouver, San Fransisco and more. Tickets are available at mariahthescientist.com.
