Coco Jones has tapped Leon Thomas for a remix of her Grammy-nominated hit “Here We Go (Uh Oh).”

The soulful track, which samples Lenny Williams‘ “‘Cause I Love You,” tells the story of two exes who can’t shake each other off. Jones tries to move on and open her heart to new love. However, part of her still longs for that old connection.

“I wanna love another person / Can I please love another person this time?” she sings.

Thomas appears in the second verse, pleading for her to stay after reminding her that every relationship has rough patches. “We done had our share of ups and downs, yeah / But every couple goes through stuff / Girl, you can’t fix that with some new love,” he croons.

Jones’ “Here We Go (Remix)” with Thomas marks their second recorded collaboration and third overall. In 2023, they reimagined Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé’s duet “Until the End of Time” for Spotify Singles. Thomas also co-wrote Jones’ 2024 track “Sweep It Up.”

The remix of “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” follows Jones’ singles “Most Beautiful Design” featuring Future and London on da Track and “Sweep It Up.”

Jones is expected to release her highly anticipated debut album later this year via High Standardz/Def Jam Recordings. The project will follow her 2022 debut EP, What I Didn’t Tell You, which featured her Grammy-winning song “ICU.”

In May 2024, Jones kicked off her debut era with “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” as the album’s lead single.

In an exclusive interview with Rated R&B, she explained what inspired her to write it. “I think the music inspired the song concept because I feel like with the sample, it feels like this orchestra and like a mystery,” Jones said. “[It’s] like this mission is happening like 007 or something. I was like, ‘What could be the mission here?’ And the mission, I feel like, is to be free from this person that constantly comes back in — to get over that hurdle.”

At the time of this writing, “Here We Go (Uh Oh)” is in its sixth week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart.

The Cardiak and Wu10-produced track is also nominated for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards. The ceremony takes place this Sunday (Feb. 2) in Los Angeles.

As for Thomas, the Grammy winner released his sophomore album, MUTT in September 2024 via EZMNY Records/Motown Records. The album featured collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign, Masego, Wale, Freddie Gibbs, Baby Rose and Axlfolie.
