Lucky Daye‘s chart-topping single “That’s You” won Best Traditional R&B Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 2).
The category also included Marsha Ambrosius‘ “Wet,” Kenyon Dixon‘s “Can I Have This Groove,” Lalah Hathaway‘s “No Lie” with Michael McDonald and Muni Long‘s “Make Me Forget.”
It tallies Daye’s second Grammy following his Best Progressive R&B Album win for Table For Two at the 64th Grammy Awards in 2022.
Prior to this year’s win, Daye was nominated in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category two other times. He received his first nod at the 2020 Grammys with “Real Games” from his debut album, Painted, which was awarded to Lizzo (“Jerome”).
He was also in the running at the 2022 ceremony for his Yebba-assisted duet “How Much Can a Heart Take” from Table For Two. (H.E.R.’s “Fight for You” ended up taking home the trophy.)
Daye co-wrote “That’s You” with the song’s producers D’Mile and Bruno Mars, along with Austin Brown and Mike “Hunnid” McGregor.

“That’s You” is the lead single from Daye’s Grammy-nominated third album, Algorithm, which received a nod for Best R&B Album at this year’s ceremony.
Regarding the song, Daye noted, “I sang my heart out on ‘That’s You.’ I felt like I was on the moon. I want people to think about that one person they just can’t be without when they listen. Hopefully, that person is a good person.”
“That’s You” spent two weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart in July 2024. It marked Daye’s first No. 1 on this chart as the lead act and second overall. Before that, he earned his first chart-topper for his feature on Alicia Keys‘ “Come For Me (Unlocked)” with Khalid.
Algorithm was released June 28, 2024, via Keep Cool/RCA Records. The follow-up to 2022’s Candydrip included features from RAYE (“Paralyzed“) and Teddy Swims (“Blame“).
Regarding the album, Daye explained, “Algorithm is the continued exploration of my sound, leaning into more futuristic and alternative sounds. Whenever I create with D’Mile and J. Kercy, we create magic, so I hope the fans love this project as much as I do.”
