Ledisi is honoring fellow Black women on her empowering new song “BLKWMN.”

On the self-penned track, produced by Joc Musiq, the New Orleans native sings, “Black woman / Yes, I love you / Black, light, dark, blended / Every kind of hue / Soft, strong, a fragile life / That keeps the world from ending, yeah / Your complexity is still a mystery / I am you, yes, instantly / A wild flower born a queen, yeah / God gave you a spiritual power / Often misunderstood.”

Speaking on the track, Ledisi shares, “‘BLKWMN’ is more than just a song—it’s an anthem. It’s about honoring the brilliance, power, and perseverance that Black women embody every single day. From our history to our present, we’re still standing tall, creating, leading, and shaping the world.”

“BLKWMN” arrives with a visual produced by Tyler Perry and Kyle Johnson. The video features a compilation of photos of Black women throughout history, including Harriet Tubman, Coretta Scott King and Maya Angelou, to modern icons such as Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Janet Jackson, and Beyoncé, among many others.

Ledisi’s “BLKWMN” is the follow-up to “Love You Too.” Both tracks will appear on her upcoming album, The Crown, which will release this spring. The latter tune was produced by Ledisi’s longtime collaborator Rex Rideout.

Last month, Ledisi performed “Lift Every Voice and Sing” at the Super Bowl LIX pregame show in her hometown.

“Performing at the Super Bowl is one of the most significant moments of my career,” she said. “I’m honored to bring my voice and my story to such a monumental event, and I hope to inspire unity and pride with this performance.”

On May 28, Ledisi will kick off her headlining Love You Too Tour in Baltimore at the iconic Lyric Baltimore.

The Grammy-winning singer, who will be joined by special guest Marsha Ambrosius, will make stops in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, St. Louis, Memphis and more before concluding June 29 in Savannah, Georgia.

Husband-wife duo Kindred and the Soul Family, as well as Rahsaan Patterson, will appear in select cities.
