Blaq Tuxedo, the R&B duo consisting of brothers Darius and Dominique Logan, has returned with their new album, Should’ve Seen This Coming.
The 10-track album, available via BlaqTuxedo Entertainment, was preceded by the single “Leeway.”
Regarding “Leeway,” Darius told Rated R&B. “The song is basically saying like, ‘Let me get some leeway. All the other guys you deal with, I’m not like those guys. You can’t put their problems on me. Give me a fair chance.’ Sonically, it has a Michael Jackson feel to it, but the topline is very youthful.”
Speaking on their fourth album, Blaq Tuxedo notes, “From late-night sessions to real-life confessions, Blaq Tuxedo brings a new genre to life: R&P — Rhythm & Player. The album is a deeply personal, gritty, and genre-bending reflection of the highs, heartbreaks, and hustle that shaped us. It’s rhythm. It’s real. It’s Blaq.”
Should’ve Seen This Coming showcases Blaq Tuxedo’s artistic range, similar to their writing and production resumé that includes everyone from Chris Brown to Doja Cat. The Mike Jay-assisted “Type Shit” recalls ’90s R&B slow jams made strictly for the bedroom, with inspiration from groups like Jodeci and 112.
Meanwhile, “Travis Porter,” named after the rap trio, is undoubtedly a club banger that has them chanting, “B–h I feel like Travis Porter / Make it rain keep it goin’ / I just wanna see some ass / Don’t you hide it baby, show it.”
Should’ve Seen This Coming follows Blaq Tuxedo’s self-titled album, released in 2019. The nine-song set included collaborations with Chris Brown, Eric Bellinger and Luke James.

Although Darius and Dominique went six years without releasing album, the Sacramento natives have kept themselves busy writing and producing for other acts. Their resumé includes Doja Cat’s viral hit “Streets,” which became a TikTok phenomenon in 2021.
“We came to the studio to hear her stuff, and I gave her a bunch of beats that I felt were a fit because she was doing a lot of rap stuff early on,” Dominique told Rated R&B in an exclusive interview. “I don’t know if she just hadn’t played us those records or if they changed the whole direction, but all the pop stuff felt like it came later from what we heard.”
He continued, “So when we heard these records, I was like, ‘There’s no way the record is even going on the album. It was an R&B record. It’s just no way.’ And then they were like, ‘No, this is one of her favorite joints. This is definitely going on the album.’”

Blaq Tuxedo also co-wrote and co-produced Brown’s No. 1 hit “Residuals” from his Grammy-winning album, 11:11 (Deluxe).
In the same interview with Rated R&B, they revealed the Prince-inspired track was intended for Brown’s Breezy album. “That was the first song that kicked off the album,” Darius said. “He records a lot of songs, so it kind of got buried. We ended up doing ‘Iffy.’ We created that song the same week, and he rode with that, which was a blessing.”
Dominique added, “We were playing it at a party and he called the next morning like, ‘Yo, I’m putting this on the album.’ He wanted to put it on [Breezy], but it didn’t fit the mood of that music, so the timing was right.”
