Neo-soul mainstay Eric Roberson has teamed with BJ The Chicago Kid for his new single “Where You Gonna Go.”
Roberson and Rodney Jones co-produced the retro-soul track and co-wrote it alongside Bryan James Sledge.
“‘Where You Gonna Go’ is a song that explores simple extremes”, explains Roberson. “It’s inspired by a question I ask myself to help the sunshine, even when facing storms.“
He continues, “A lullaby hook blended with ’70s soul, Detroit hip-hop, and 3/4 gospel undertones invite listeners to engage in everything from slow dancing with a partner to praying for them. The song’s mission is to enhance people’s self-worth and growth.”

“Where You Gonna Go” is Roberson’s first song release of the year. In 2024, he dropped a handful of singles, including “The Greatest Gift,” “Doubt (Can You Come Back Some Other Time),” “Every Kinda People,” “Mask” and “You,” among others.
Roberson also released his holiday project, The Greatest Gift: An Eric Roberson Christmas. Before that, in 2022, he released his album Lessons.
The project included his popular title track, as well as his “Lessons (Acoustic Remix)” featuring Raheem DeVaughn, Kevin Ross and Anthony Hamilton. It also featured “All I Want,” which included a posthumous appearance from Kenny Greene of R&B group Intro.
As for BJ The Chicago Kid, he released his last album, Gravy, in 2023. It was recorded at the iconic Royal Studios in Memphis with his collaborator, Yeti Beats.
Gravy included collaborations with Philip Bailey (“Never Change”), Chlöe (“Honey“), Andra Day (“Crazy Love”), Coco Jones (“Spend The Night“), Freddie Gibbs (“Liquor Store in the Sky”), Cory Henry (“Forgot Your Name“) and Robert Glasper (“Smoke Break”).
In 2024, BJTCK released his Gravy (Deluxe), which included the Ledisi-assisted “Never Change (Remix).”
