Rising R&B singer Jack Freeman has landed his first Billboard-charting single.
His feel-good soul jam “MVP,” produced by Bryan-Michael Cox, has debuted on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart at No. 29. The chart is currently led by Leon Thomas’ “Mutt” for a second consecutive week.
“MVP” is lifted from the Houston native’s third album, Nina, released in February 2024. The love-centered track was released as the album’s official third single this year.
Speaking on the song, Freeman explained, “‘MVP’ is about the one you love. Simple as that. The person you look at and just thank God for every single day. Even if that person is you. Celebrate the MVP’s in your life this day and the next.”
Regarding Nina, Freeman, noted, “Nina is an idea. She’s a symbol of your greatest loves, your biggest heartbreak, and everything in between. You’re gonna walk away refreshed that we did our part to contribute such well-done work to this thing we call RnB.”
Freeman, who recently completed his stint as a special guest on Jagged Edge‘s J.E. Heartbreak 25th Anniversary Tour, will support Durand Bernarr on his You Gon’ Grow, Too! Tour. He will join Bernarr at his upcoming stops in Houston, Austin, Dallas and Phoenix.
